Palo Alto Networks and Multiterminais: six years of service

02.21.2020

Multiterminais, a Brazilian company that is a reference in the provision of services to foreign trade, completes six years of contract with Palo Alto Networks, a global cybersecurity company that was chosen by the company based in Rio de Janeiro (RJ) to protect its networks, in 2013, making it one of PANW's first customers in Brazil. In addition to ensuring the security of the company's logistics operations, Palo Alto Networks also assisted in the migration of Multiterminais platforms to the cloud.

The company was founded in 1986 and is one of the operators of port terminals and dry ports in Brazil and is among the most important companies providing services to foreign trade. Pioneer in the use of the internet as a tool in cargo tracking and tracing operations, it strives to offer customers a state-of-the-art information technology (IT) infrastructure, resulting in a more efficient and secure logistics process.

If there is a failure in any link, the product itself redirects traffic and customers are not harmed, which generates a huge productivity gain for the company in general.

Before, Multiterminais used the entire logistics environment centralized in a datacenter, but the company realized that it could migrate to the cloud supported by Palo Alto Networks technologies. Multiterminais initiated the migration to the cloud in late 2018, and Palo Alto Networks firewall solutions in the datacenter were moved to the cloud, with the company deploying virtualized next-generation VM series firewalls - which provide advancements in threat discovery , preventing data loss and advanced features to protect against attacks.

"Our goal is to finish migrating to the cloud by the end of 2020", explained Antônio dos Santos, the company's CIO.

In addition to using the next generation virtual firewall VM-200 to ensure security in Microsoft Azure, Multiterminais acquired, even at the beginning of the partnership, through partner integrator Brainwalk, the PA 500 and PA 3020 solutions for perimeter and security datacenter, as well as URL Filtering (web content filter), Threat Prevention (for known threats), WildFire (for unknown threats) and Prisma Access (for remote client-server access). The company acquired these solutions, sized according to the volume of needs of each unit, for its headquarters and eight branches.

In an environment whose operations are very much based on systems "talking" with other systems, and the logistics have to be very oriented to the question of time, which is fundamental in this field. This requires an integrated communication and a reliable system so that everything is done according to the demanded period. Palo Alto Networks' solutions provide - in addition to security and stability - an improvement in connectivity, as they automate fault corrections.

"If there is a failure in any link, the product itself redirects traffic and customers are not harmed, which generates a huge productivity gain for the company in general," stated Antônio.

"Achieving six years in a solid partnership is something that makes us very satisfied. Palo Alto Networks always strives to exceed customer expectations. We are honored to assist the Digital Transformation of a company with as much prestige as Multiterminais" stated Marcos Oliveira , country manager at Palo Alto Networks Brasil.
