In the meeting, in which several executives of the Port sector were present, the changes that will make the Port of Rio the most competitive, modern and sustainable Brazilian Port - a true Super-Port - were discussed.
The Minister was presented to the expansion plan construction works currently underway in the MultiRio Container Terminal, which will extend its quay, double its capacity and greatly improve its productivity, by acquiring new equipment, in order to be apt to receive the mega-ships and offer even more efficiency and competitiveness.
One of the improvements discussed was the dredging of the access channel and evolution bay, which is in its final elaboration phase and whose bidding announcement is expected to take place on the first week of July.
Another point that was discussed were the urgent measures that are necessary to inaugurate the road access through the Alternativa and Portuária Ave., which will greatly improve the access to the Port of Rio.
Both initiatives are part of the 21st Century Port of Rio, an important Strategic Accessibility Plan, which had the participation of several associations and Government Agencies.
R$500 million will be invested in the MultiRio Container Terminal Expansion plan which is expected to be concluded by the end of 2015.
